Adriana Whelan is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a Doctorate in Nursing with over 20 years of experience serving patients from youth to adults within the Greater Cleveland area. She began her career at the Free Clinic of Greater Cleveland (now called Circle Health Services/ The Centers) in 2000 serving Cleveland’s uninsured and underinsured. In addition to wellness physicals, she specializes in Chronic disease management, Women’s Health (Family Planning, Pap tests, IUD’s, Nexplanon, Colposcopy), STI management, HIV PEP/ PrEP, and HIV. She currently serves as the Associate Director of Primary Care and oversees HIV Programing
Prior to the start of her career, she served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Ecuador, South America, where she worked as a Health care worker. She attended Case Western Reserve University for Graduate school. Honors include induction into Sigma Theta Tau Nursing International Honor Society, the Alumni Award for Competence in Clinical Nursing, the Madeline R. Zaworski Award for Leadership, Marilyn Kusinzyski Faith and Strength Award for HIV Care, and Crain’s Business “Best of the Best” Nursing Award.
Why Adriana Whelan loves her job: “First and foremost are my patients, and I’ve known some of them for over 20 years. They come as they are, and there are moments of small successes that we celebrate together. What we say to patients has an impact, and these encounters in turn contribute to the health of our community, which I am privileged to be a part of.”
