Early Childhood Mental Health (ECMH) is supportive services for children ages 0-6 years old who struggle with social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties.

Did you know that 90% of brain growth happens by the time a child is ready to begin Kindergarten? Did you also know that during this time, preschoolers are three times more likely to be suspended or expelled than children in any other grade due to challenging behaviors?
The Centers’ ECMH Services focus on ensuring that young children thrive by addressing their behavioral health care needs during their most crucial developmental years to increase their readiness for school and maximize their potential for later academic success.
In the home environment, ECMH clinicians work closely with the child and primary caregivers to:
In the classroom, clinicians work collaboratively with Early Learning staff. Through classroom observations and consultations, ECMH clinicians provide training and coaching to teachers around improving classroom management and teacher practices to assist with understanding mental health and accessing mental health interventions as needed.
Medicaid is accepted for ECMH Therapy. Thanks to our partnership with our local ADAMHS Board and Invest In Children, ECMH Consultation and Prevention is offered free to residents of Cuyahoga County.
All services are provided by qualified mental health clinicians licensed through the state of Ohio. ECMH clinicians are trained to complete Devereaux Early Childhood Assessments and/or Mental Health Assessments. They also develop Individualized Service Plans, and utilize data gathered from ongoing screening and assessment tools to build child protective factors, promote resilience in caretakers, and plan for professional development with Early Learning staff.
